At EMT, we are dedicated to offering our services on a sliding scale in order to provide funding for those of all income levels. Our traditional sessions are priced at the following:

What is the meaning of the term "exceptional"?"

The term exceptional is often used to describe unusual, unique, or outstanding qualities of people or objects. It typically refers to students who learn and develop differently from most others or students who have exceptional learning styles, exceptional talents, or exceptional behaviors. Exceptional students are those who fall outside of the normal range of development.

What if my child has learning challenges but hasn't been diagnosed as exceptional (special) needs?

We focus on families with kids who need the most help. If you feel your child has learning challenges but has not yet been diagnosed, please contact us about your situation and we can respond on a case by case basis.

How do you find the right tutor for my child?

Accepted Answer

During your free consultation call, we are able to assess your child's needs and personality. We will then personally match them with a mindful tutor that best suits who they are and how they learn best in every dimension.

Question 5

What if my child doesn’t connect with their tutor? Do we have the option to change tutors ?

Accepted Answer

We put a lot of thought into finding the best tutor for your child's needs and abilites. So far, we have received only positive feedback regarding our matching process. However, if you and/or your child are not satisfied with the chosentutor, we are happy to find someone with whom you can have a better connection...we want you to be empowered to get your needs met!
 
Before each first official session, we allow families to connect with their tutor with a free 30-minute meet-and-greet. You can take this opportunity to gauge whether your tutor is a good fit for you and your child!

What equipment do I need?

All of our tutoring and yoga sessions are remote. To ensure that your session runs smoothly, you should have the following equipment:
 
A computer/tablet 
Working internet 
A functioning webcam with a microphone & speakers 
A Google account, or the Google Meet app!

Question 7

How long is each tutoring session?

Accepted Answer

Sessions are 50-minutes. Immediately following each session, your tutor will email you a recap of each session that includes: how the session went, what topics were covered, and photos or screenshots of the work that was completed.

How frequently should my child be tutored?

Accepted Answer

This is something you can discuss with us during your consultation call. Session frequency often changes over time, depending on the child's work load.

Will our tutor send out weekly lesson plans in advance?

Accepted Answer

Because EMT focuses on providing a personalized experience, our tutors are flexible to whatever will best guide your child’s success. If weekly lesson plans are something you know to be a great help in preparing your child for sessions, let us know and you will be connected with a tutor who will gladly provide this!

Can I give our tutor my child’s homework assignments to help them with?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We love helping with homework, especially when it's emailed to your tutor prior to the beginning of the session. That way, they can prepare any relevant resources and familiarize themselves with the material. This is best done by emailing a PDF/photo of the homework directly to your tutor.

As a parent, am I allowed to sit in for the tutoring session?"

Accepted Answer

We love having parents sit in on sessions, as long as they are not a distraction away from a child's learning goals.
 
Also, feel free to join your child in our Yoga & Meditation classes, as well!.

Question 12

Am I allowed to connect my tutor with my child’s teacher, therapist, or other professionals?"

Accepted Answer

We strongly encourage parents to forward the tutor any emails they receive (pertinent to their sessions) from your child's teacher regarding the students performance.
 
Because our tutors are paid on an hourly basis, conferences between the tutor and teachers, therapists, or other professionals will generally be charged for. Please reach out to your tutor to discuss these conferences in advance.

Question 13

What kind of feedback or recap does the tutor give the parents when each session is through?

Accepted Answer

Immediately after each session, your child's tutor will email you a detailed recap email. In this email, you will hear how the session went, what topics were covered (including mindfulness exercises), and receive photos/screenshots of the work that was completed. Our tutors strive to keep you closely in the loop with the support your child is receiving academically and emotionally, and are eager to respond to any questions you might have or discuss session specifics further!
